Biography
Zane Lowe, also known more intimately as Zipper, is a well-regarded radio DJ best known for his weeknight broadcast on BBC Radio 1. He was a radio DJ on Xfm prior to his 2003 switch to the BBC. Additionally, he is a television host on MTV Two as of 1997; a member of the semi-active rap group Breaks Co-Op; and a frequent live performer. Born Alexander Zane Reid Lowe on August 7, 1963, in New Zealand, he immigrated to England as an adult. Not only is he one of England's most popular media personalities, but he's won numerous awards for his work, including both Best Radio Show and Best TV Show at the NME Awards in 2006. His BBC show reclaimed its Best Radio Show honor at the NME Awards in 2007 and 2008. He also was awarded Music Broadcaster of the Year at the 2006 Sony Radio Academy Awards. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
