Saafron is an alias of Dakim Saadiq, a Detroit-via-Los Angeles experimental beatmaker. He was one of the first signings to Matthewdavid's Leaving Records, and his fractured, abstract sample constructions have earned praise from L.A. beat scene regulars such as Flying Lotus and Ras G. He had released numerous tapes, 7" EPs, and CD-Rs as Dakim or Dak since the late 2000s, but his 2016 album Reishi (produced under the Saafron moniker) was his first vinyl full-length.
