This group's history goes back to 1942; present leader Hugh Borde took command in 1951 and pioneered the development of the modern steel drum orchestra. Over the course of 16 albums, the Trinidad Tripoli Steelband has pursued a blend of soca, calypso and reggae. Borde was given a Golden Medal of Merit in 1986 by Ronald Reagan.
