Her acting debut was in 1910, in Alberto Botelho's film #Vida do Barão do Rio Branco. In the next year, he worked as chorister in the revue #Peço a Palavra (Teatro Carlos Gomes, Rio). Continuing to work in the theater, she went to Europe in 1913, returning in the next year. She toured the northeast in 1916 with the Luís Galhardo Company. In 1918, she acted in the burletta #Flor de Catumbi. In the following year, she performed in two films, #Alma Sertaneja and #Ubirajara, both by Luís de Barros. In 1920, she scored a carnival hit with the marcha "Pois Não" (
Eduardo Souto/Filomeno Ribeiro), presented by her in the revue +Gato, Baeta, Carapicu. In 1922, she formed her own theatrical company, performing in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Rio Grande do Sul. She presented the marcha "Zizinha" (
José Francisco de Freitas) in the 1925 revue +Se a Moda Pega (music by
Henrique Vogeler). In 1928, she sang Sinhô's samba "Que Vale a Nota Sem a Mulher?" in the revue +O Que Eu Quero É Nota.
Her first album came in December 1930 (Victor), with the samba "Desgraça Pouca É Bobagem" (J. Aimberê), and the marcha "Vou Te Levar" (Plínio J. d'Épiro/V. de Lima). She recorded several albums for Victor in 1931, among them two J. Aimberê originals (the samba "Eu Sou Feliz" and the samba-batuque "Nego Bamba"). In August 1931, she moved to Columbia where she recorded just one album, her last one, with "Napoleão" (Joubert de Carvalho) and "Óia O Ganzé" (Artur Braga). In the same year, she participated in the film #Campeão de Futebol (Genésio Arruda). She worked intensely as a theater actress during the whole decade. In the late '30s she became a Rádio Record actress and singer. In 1963, she received a merit medal from the Brazilian Association of Theatrical Critics for her work as an actress.
