Biography
Nelson Ângelo started his professional career in 1966 connected with a group of composers from Minas Gerais known as Clube da Esquina, having had his Fazenda included by Milton Nascimento on his Clube da Esquina. With Nascimento, Ângelo wrote Sacramento, included on Milagres dos Peixes, and Testamento on Clube da Esquina No. 2. In 1967, Ângelo moved to Rio de Janeiro where he continued to perform at several different venues. As a sideman for artists like Tom Jobim, Miúcha, Alaíde Costa, Sarah Vaughan, Elis Regina, Sérgio Mendes, Luís Eça, Luiz Bonfá, Milton Nascimento, Chico Buarque, and Edu Lobo, Ângelo performed in France, England, Norway, Mexico, U.S., Uruguay, and Belgium and/or recorded several albums. With Cacaso, Ângelo wrote the musical +Táxi and 50 songs. In Paris where he lived, Ângelo recorded Mineiro Pau and Naná Vasconcelos, Nelson Ângelo Novelli (1974). ~ Alvaro Neder, Rovi
