Biography
Blue Rondo A La Turk was a British pop band named after a popular jazz tune by the Dave Brubeck Quintet. It was formed by Chris Sullivan (vocals) in 1981, and the rest of the lineup was: Moses Mount Bassie (saxophone), Mick Lloyd Bynoe (drums), Art Collins (saxophone), Geraldo d'Arbilly (b.Brazil) (percussion), Kito Poncioni (b.Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) (bass), Mark Reilly (b.1960 02 20, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, England) (guitar), Christos Tolera (vocals), Tholo Peter Tsegona (trumpet), and Daniel White (b.1959 08 26, Letchwood, Hertfordshire, England) (keyboards). The group's debut album, Chewing the Fat (1982), featured two chart singles, including the Top 40 hit "Me and Mr. Sanchez," but the band had broken up by the time the second album, Bees Knees and Chicken Elbows (1984), was released. ~ William Ruhlmann, Rovi
