The Youngsters
Biography
The Youngsters, a group of the soon-to-be Azymuth member Ivan Conti, recorded two albums in the 1960s and backed important #Jovem Guarda artists like Roberto Carlos and Wanderlea on several of their albums. Having had several songs included on the periodic compilations As 14 Mais, they acted many times as session musicians, such as when Marcos Valle did the soundtrack for the film #O Fabuloso Fittipaldi, depicting the life of the Brazilian car racer. As an Odeon artist, Valle couldn't sign the 1972 Philips record; it was credited to the group Apolo IV that was in fact Ivan Conti (drums), Philips keyboardist and arranger José Roberto Bertrami, and bassist Alex Malheiros. One of the themes of the soundtrack, Azymuth, became a hit and the new band would take it as its definitive denomination. ~ Alvaro Neder, Rovi
