Bay Area singer/songwriter Kelly Finnigan is a rootsy, soulful performer known for his work as the lead singer of the funky R&B outfit Monophonics. Following almost a decade of work with the band, he issued his debut solo album, The Tales People Tell, in 2019.

Born in Los Angeles in 1981, Finnigan grew up in a musical family the son of Mike Finnigan, a keyboardist and singer known for his own albums as well as his work with Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Taj Mahal, and others. Introduced to the piano at a young age, the younger Finnigan blanched at formal instruction, choosing instead to forge his own creative path. He eventually joined the Bay Area psych and soul outfit Monophonics, with whom he recorded albums like 2012's In Your Brain and 2018's Mirrors.
