Biography
After the demise of Hunters Collectors in 1997, lead singer Mark Seymour embarked on a solo career by releasing his debut solo album, King Without a Clue, in 1998.

Seymour had been a part of Hunters Collectors for the twenty years of their existence, so it was difficult to imagine him performing anything but the type of guitar-heavy pub rock that his former band epitomised for so long. On King Without a Clue, however, Seymour managed to show a different side to himself, including elements of folk and country into his music.

For the album, Seymour enlisted the services of his brother Nick, former bass player for Crowded House, Hunters guitarist, Barry Palmer, and drummer Peter Jones. Together they produced an album that became a minor success in Australia.

A number of singles were released from the album, including the superb Last Ditch Cabaret and the haunting The Ghost of Vainglory, surely destined to take its place alongside so many of Hunters Collectors songs as Australian classics. ~ Jonathan Lewis, Rovi
