Françis et Ses Peintres

					Biography

Francis et Ses Peintres is a unique collaborative outfit featuring France's premier maverick singer/songwriter Philippe Katerine and the jazz band formed by saxophonist Francois Ripoche. Also featuring guitarist Gilles Coronado, bassist Fred Chiffoleau, and drummer Christophe Lavergne, Francis et Ses Peintres had previously worked with Katerine on his 1999 album Les Creatures, and on the tribute record to the late chanteur Jacno Future, but in 2010 decided to join forces for a new project which would see them upload a brand new cover version of a French pop classic every week for a year on their official site. Released physically through Barclay/Universal in 2011, 52 Reprises Dans L'espace contained their unique reworkings of tracks by Henri Salvador ("Le Loup, La Biche et la Chevalier"), Lio ("Les Brunes Comptent Pas pour Des Prunes"), and Regrets ("Je Ne Veux Pas Rentrer Chez Moi Seule"), a record which they toured behind for ten months. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi
