Biography
A contemporary gospel version of En Vogue or SWV with the additional soul that their religious belief gives them, Virtue was formed by Karima Kibble -- the wife of Take 6's Joey Kibble -- and her sister Ebony Holland, Negelle Sumter, and Shavonne Sampson. After signing to Verity Records, Virtue recorded an album with production by Commissioned's Mitchell Jones and the help of Mark and Joey Kibble. Their second album, Get Ready, appeared in 1999 to coincide with the addition of another Trotter sister, Heather Martin. The group consistently recorded through 2006, a period highlighted by the Dove-winning Free (2003) and the Grammy-nominated Testimony (2006). Kibble, Holland, and Martin left the recording industry to take care of their families but returned nearly a decade later with Testimony Reloaded (2015) and Fearless (2016). ~ John Bush, Rovi
