Anne Linnet
Biography
A Danish-born pop singer and songwriter, Anne Linnet built on the popularity of her early solo work by being a part of well-received groups like the Anne Linnet Band, Shit Chanel, and Marquis de Sade. Born in Aarhus on July 30, 1953, Linnet began releasing albums in the early '70s, such as Sweet Thing, the eponymous Anne Linnet, and You're Crazy, before starting the Anne Linnet Band just in time for the onset of the '80s. The Anne Linnet Band, fronted by a trio of female vocalists -- Linnet, Sanne Salomonsen, and Lis Sørensen -- released their self-titled debut in 1981 and a follow-up in 1982. Linnet then went on to record and release a pair of albums with Marquis de Sade, and -- on her own -- in 1989 recorded the children's album Go' Sønday Morgen. From that point on, Linnet focused mainly on her successful solo career, with brief forays into other bands -- a Marquis de Sade release in 2002, for example -- and released a best-of compilation entitled Nattog Til Venus in 1999. In 2007, Linnet released the album Akvarium on Sony, which would peak at the top spot on her nation's album charts. ~ Chris True, Rovi
