Biography
This veteran Detroit saxophonist plays alto and tenor. A smooth, lyrical, and melodic player somewhat similar to Johnny Hodges and Paul Desmond, he excels in small-group settings. In addition to many recordings as a sideman, Benson has released Swings Swings Swings (1986, Parkwood) and Sax Master (1999, Alembic Arts) as a leader. ~ Michael G. Nastos, Rovi
