Originally formed by vocalist Lee Jackson, guitarist Larry Leishman, Dave McDevitt, Al Dorsey and Michael Fontara, Jon and Lee and the Checkmates formed later from Jackson, Leishman, vocalist John Finley, drummer Jeff Cutler and bassist Peter Hodgson.
