Formed in 2014 by singer/bassist Veronica Torres, guitarist Jonathan Campolo, saxophonist Benjamin Jaffe, and drummer Andrew Spaulding, the quartet made their debut in 2015 with a self-titled five-song EP on Dull Tools, the label run by Parquet Courts' Andrew Savage. They soon signed with Mexican Summer, which issued their full-length LP, Convenience, a year later, earning plaudits for their wild and skronky collision of politics, personality, and melody. Coming back to the Dull Tools label, they issued a lengthier seven-song EP, Aggressive Advertising, in 2017, followed in February 2018 by a live 7" single on Third Man Records. A few months later, Dull Tools combined Pill's two EPs into a full-length release called The Dull Tools Tapes in advance of their proper sophomore album, Soft Hell, which appeared in October 2018. ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
