Lil Key
Biography
Baltimore rapper Lil Key was born Keon Myers in 2000. Myers enjoyed a bright early childhood, and his interest in music -- rap in particular -- bloomed early. He was posting videos of his own music by age 12, and by age 14 he'd gathered enough local acclaim to become a spokesperson for Baltimore business and community institution Shoe City. With the 2013 release of his debut mixtape, My Life, Vol. 1, Lil Key's music caught fire, with youthfully themed tracks like "Backpack" and "Young and Bold" gaining traction both regionally and nationally. He continued work across multiple platforms, releasing new tracks, doing community outreach and charity work, and eventually starring in the 2016 season of The Rap Game, a reality television show produced by Queen Latifah and Jermaine Dupri. In 2017 he returned with new music in the form of the eight-song EP Unlocked. ~ Fred Thomas, Rovi
