Biography
One of the top jazz writers of his generation, Gary Giddins is best-known for his longtime work with the Village Voice which he joined in 1973. In addition, he has written occasional pieces for jazz magazines, worked as a disc jockey, founded the short-lived American Jazz Orchestra in 1985 and written several books including Ridin' On A Blue Note, Rhythm-A-Ning, Celebrating Bird (also consulting on a documentary tied in with the Charlie Parker book), Satchmo and a biography of Bing Crosby. ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi
