Featuring producer/rapper the Alchemist and rapper/producer Oh No, Gangrene was launched when these two strangers were introduced by a mutual friend, rapper and Dilated Peoples member Evidence. Beats and verses were exchanged through e-mail, and something casual and fun quickly turned serious, with the duo deciding to introduce Gangrene to the world. The underground hip-hop haven Decon was just the label to do it, and in 2010 they released the project's debut album, Gutter Water.
