Davis was born in late 2004 to parents who both made music; their mother was in an R&B girl group, and she quit in order to raise her child full-time. Inspired by trance and house artists including Above Beyond and Calvin Harris, they began experimenting with music production at the age of seven. They continued working on music every day, and their earliest releases appeared online in 2018, including demo album Trials. British label Never Say Die signed Moore Kismet in 2019, releasing Character EP and several singles, and they made their first live appearance in April at the Asteria Arts & Music Festival in Florida. Their 2020 EP Revenge of the Unicorns was created as a reaction to the homophobic, transphobic, racist, and ageist feedback they faced after publicly coming out. The EP included "Flair," a song co-produced by Davis' mother, credited as Momma Kismet. Several additional singles appeared during the year, including "Beauty Is a Facade" and "You Should Run" (featuring Pauline Herr).
Moore Kismet signed to Thrive in 2021 and released the EP Vendetta for Cupid, which included their own vocals for the first time. Another EP, Flourish, included collaborations with artists like torr and Laxcity. "Call of the Unicorn," with Tasha Baxter, appeared near the end of the year. "Parallel Heartbreak," an R&B-influenced song with Pauline Herr, was released at the beginning of 2022. Moore Kismet then collaborated with Whipped Cream, Big Freedia, and UNiiQU3 on the song "Hold Up." UNIVERSE, Moore Kismet's debut album, arrived in June, with a few previously released songs included as well as additional tracks with Courtney Paige Nelson, Lunamatic, TYGKO, and others. Subsequent single "Forte" closed out the year. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
