Biography
The rock band Garbagemen formed in Toronto in 1985. Members were guitarist Howie Moscovitch, bassist Howard Zephyr Szafer, keyboardist Ron Weiseman, and drummer Glenn Milchem. The latter would eventually be replaced by drummer Ben Cleveland Hayes. The band grew roots for its fan base along the famous Queen Street club scene.
The Garbagemen only recorded two albums during its three-year lifespan. The debut, a self-titled offering, was released in 1986 and only on cassette. A year later a sophomore effort, Take It Away, was put together. Both recordings were done under the Craps Records label. The Garbagemen's music brought listeners an energetic rock mixture flavored with a little funk and a splash of punk. ~ Charlotte Dillon, Rovi
