Biography
Convertion is one of the many pseudonyms used by prolific dance music singer/songwriter/keyboardist/producer Leroy Burgess. Burgess' biggest hit under this name was the Martha Williams song Let's Do It, issued by Sam Weiss' N.Y.-based Sam Records. A huge dance hit, the effervescent jam charted number 90 R&B in early 1981. Another Convertion favorite was the smooth Sweet Thing, released in summer 1983 on N.Y. label Vanguard Records. Burgess re-recorded the song with Swedish house group Slippery People as Slippery People Featuring Leroy Burgess on a single released in February 2001 by Sweden's Rip-a-Dip Recordings. ~ Ed Hogan, Rovi
