Born and raised in Munich, Virginia started her music career as a singer, songwriter, and vocal arranger. She sang on several tracks by Munich-based house producer Tom Novy during the late 1990s, scoring an international hit with the 1999 single "I Rock." She then began touring as a DJ, holding down residencies in Munich and Frankfurt, while remaining active as a vocalist, appearing on songs by Jam Spoon, Shik Stylkø, and B-Zet. Under her birth name, Virginia Nascimento, she released her debut EP, 2006's Frankfurt, followed by the B-Zet-produced pop full-length Twisted Mind in 2008. Switching to a minimal house sound, she collaborated with Abe Duque ("Following My Heart"), Marc Poppcke ("See My Eyes") and Butch (the Area Remote-issued "From Above" and "Mass Appeal") between 2009 and 2010.
Relocating to Berlin, Virginia was featured on Steffi's 2011 club hit "Yours," and began a residency at Panorama Bar in 2012. She signed to the Berghain-affiliated Ostgut Ton label for her own productions, starting with the Loch Hill EP in 2013. In 2015, Virginia released another EP, My Fantasy, and sang on "Treasure Seeking," produced by Steffi and Dexter. Both of those artists, along with Martyn, helped produce Virginia's 2016 full-length Fierce for the Night, easily the most pop-influenced release by the normally techno-centric Ostgut Ton. Three years later, Steffi and Virginia collaborated on the electro-techno double-EP Work a Change. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
