Biography
This underrated swinging bop group was earmarked by the distinctive sound of Julius Watkins on French horn. The band also included Monk sax player Charlie Rouse, pianist Gildo Mahones, bassist Ron Jefferson, and sometimes percussionist Chano Pozo. Five albums were recorded by Les Jazz Modes in the mid- to late '50s, and some of the group's music has subsequently been reissued/compiled by Koch and Collectables. ~ David Szatmary, Rovi
