Biography
Like so many young Americans, a post-collegiate jaunt around Europe made a big impression on Jen Elliot. Returning to her native Jacksonville, FL, the would-be performer knew that, if she ever wanted to regain the serenity she had felt as a singer and performer in her high-school musicals, she had to start singing again. She hit the open-mike-night circuit and began to belt out her original material without a hint of accompaniment. It was a bold step, but it led to an even bigger leap. Elliot moved to New York City, where she hustled for gigs at venues like the Village Underground, Shine, and the Cutting Room. A demo of her Jacksonville performances eventually found its way to Trebor Lloyd of City Canyons, a New York music publisher and promoter of independent musicians. The Secret's Out, Elliot's debut, appeared in October of 2003; it featured a strong-willed mixture of rock, blues, and pop that City Canyons dubbed "RBP." ~ Johnny Loftus, Rovi
