The Youngs
Biography
The Seattle-based art rock duo the Youngs are a married couple consisting of guitarist/singer Timothy Young and drummer/singer Eryn Young. They met at Cornish College of the Arts in 1992 when Timothy was 23 and Eryn was 17, and they were soon playing music together, initially in a jazz group. Eryn remained at Cornish College through 1995, studying music, while Timothy moved on to a number of musical associations in Seattle. He played in a variety of local bands and with such national and international figures as David Sylvian and Bill Frisell. In 1999, Eryn moved to Seattle, and she and Timothy became a romantic couple, eventually marrying. When Timothy was invited to perform at the O.K. Hotel, he asked Eryn to join him on drums; she bought a $100 toy drum set for the occasion. They were pleased by the result and formed a permanent duo as the Youngs. In October 2004, the Web of Mimicry label released their debut album, The Youngs. ~ William Ruhlmann, Rovi
