Biography
As Second Storey, British electronic musician Alec Storey produces mutant electro equally inspired by Drexciya, Autechre, and the U.K. bass music continuum. Originally from Norwich, Storey came up as part of the free party scene, and first started producing under the name Al Tourettes during the mid-2000s. Between 2006 and 2013, he used this alias for a series of 12"s that ranged from bitcrunched electro to hybrid dubstep-techno, and even a deep house record in collaboration with Appleblim. He switched his moniker to Second Storey in 2013 and signed with the Fabric-affiliated Houndstooth label, debuting with the EP Margosa Heights in 2013. The following year, Storey's No Love Lost EP, in collaboration with Close, was released by Aus Music. This preceded his Houndstooth-issued debut full-length, Double Divide. Storey collaborated with Appleblim again, this time under the name ALSO, and the duo released three EPs on RS Records, which were also compiled as a self-titled full-length in 2015. The duo's non-ALSO EP Gimme Six was released by the label in 2016, while Storey released solo EPs on Houndstooth as well as Nervous Horizon and TRUST. His second solo full-length, Lucid Locations, arrived in 2017. The remix album Lucid Interpretations followed in 2018. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
