Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, the self-taught musician and producer began her career at a young age, securing acting roles in Disney productions as well as in films such as The Fighting Temptations starring Beyonce. After covers of that superstar's "Best Thing I Never Had" and "Pretty Hurts" went viral, the pair signed to Beyonce's Parkwood label. They soon appeared on her Lemonade album and, within a week, made their debut with the five-track Sugar Symphony EP. Chloe x Halle went on to tour with their mentor and release a pair of Grammy-nominated, critically lauded LPs -- 2018's The Kids Are Alright and 2020's Ungodly Hour -- with Chloe either producing or co-producing most of the songs. Chloe and her sister also contributed the theme song to the television show and Black-ish spin-off Grown-ish, in which they played classmates of series star Yara Shahidi.
Outside of Chloe x Halle, she also used her voice for the empowerment of young women, performing an interpretation of Nina Simone's "Feeling Good" for 2021's Liberated: Music for the Movement, Vol. 3. She also joined the cast of the supernatural thriller The Georgetown Project starring Russell Crowe. That August, she released her official debut solo single, "Have Mercy." ~ Neil Z.
