Taliwhoah
Biography
R&B vocalist Taliwhoah was born Talitha Cross in the Tottenham region of London. Cross grew up in a deeply musical family, with her mother, Toyin Adekale, and father, Slim Linton, both acclaimed reggae artists, while her aunt and godmother both performed with R&B stars Boney M. She spent her youth immersed in music and working on her own as she ping-ponged between London and various locales in the States for school and family reasons. In 2014, while back in London, she recorded an EP entitled Melodies and Madness, exploring various branches of her early style. Over the next several years she further developed her approach to music, sculpting new songs that drew in part on her music-heavy upbringing but incorporated modernized rhythms, lush synths, and warm samples into a distinctive hybrid of genres. Taliwhoah relocated from London to Los Angeles in 2017 and began issuing singles as well as her New Wave Order, Vol. 1 EP, released by the Rostrum Records label. ~ Fred Thomas, Rovi
