Biography
Amede Breaux recorded approximately two dozen songs between 1928 and 1951. With siblings Cleoma Breaux Falcon, Clifford Breaux, and Ophey Breaux, he first recorded Poor Hobo, Jolie Blonde, and Step It Fast. Later, he and his two brothers joined forces as the Breaux Brothers Band. The brothers became a popular crowd pleaser in their home state of Louisiana and into Texas. Their repertoire included Criminal Waltz, Crowley Two Step, Hathaway Two Step, and Chere Mom. The Cajun Music Hall of Fame named Breaux as one of its first inductees in 1997, placing him among the ranks of such Cajun musicians as Dewey Balfa, Nathan Abshire, Joe Bonsall, Fernest Man Abshire, and Shirley Ray Bergeron. Breaux was born in the Louisiana town of Robert's Cove near Rayne in 1900. At the age of 12, he took up the accordion and within two years he began to perform at local house parties. ~ Linda Seida, Rovi
