Biography
Richie Unterberger is a music and travel writer and editor who lives in San Francisco. He is author of Unknown Legends of Rock'n'Roll (Miller Freeman), which profiles 60 of the most interesting cult rock acts of all time; its sequel, Urban Spacemen & Wayfaring Strangers: Overlooked Innovators & Eccentric Visionaries of '60s Rock (Miller Freeman); Music USA (Penguin), a guide to the regional popular music of the United States; and Turn! Turn! Turn!: The 1960s Folk-Rock Revolution, published by Backbeat in 2002. He was the editor of the travel and music sections of The Millennium Whole Earth Catalog (Harper Collins). Between 1985 and 1991, he was the editor of Option magazine, the national publication devoted to coverage of all types of alternative and independently produced music. Since watching A Hard Day's Night at the age of four, his favorite group has been the Beatles.
