The Secret Storm
Biography
The Secret Storm is the 2015-birthed pseudonym of established singer/songwriter Lauren Hoffman, who practices an emotive brand of folk-flavored indie rock. Hoffman began her professional music career as a high-school intern at Bama Rags, then pre-superstardom Dave Matthews' label/merchandising company. There she met Shannon Worrell, with whom she would form the alt-rock band Monsoon. She quit the group due to increasing obligations and focused on solo material, releasing her first full-length record, Megiddo, under her own name with Virgin Records in 1997. It was well received by critics and was followed by 1999's From the Blue House. The elegantly moody Choreography appeared in 2006, with Interplanetary Traveler arriving in 2010. Hoffman then decided a rebranding was in order, and in 2015 she issued two EPs, In the Sun and The Dragon, under the moniker the Secret Storm. ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi
