Rafter Roberts
Biography
California native Rafter Roberts took to music right out of the womb. Punk bands were built and torn down throughout his formative years and a brief stint in New York City resulted in a deluge of starving-artist four-track recordings, but the West Coast never let go of the young songwriter/producer. He moved back and set up shop in San Francisco, where he began recording friends and hosting house shows. San Diego called next, and Roberts began working on commercials, playing in various bands, and doing more production work, this time for acts like the Black Heart Procession, Castanets, and Rocket from the Crypt. His first collection of solo material, a loose-knit, slightly schizophrenic gallery of punk, indie rock, and electronic pop called Music for Total Chickens, was released on Asthmatic Kitty in 2007. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
