Members Rob Resnick (producer) and Cal Shapiro (vocals) first met while playing in the Ride, a funk band that gigged around Tufts University. They formed Timeflies in 2010, and a year later self-released their debut album, The Scotch Tape (the title a reference to Shapiro's love of drinking). On the Internet, Timeflies Tuesday soon became a regular feature of the band's video-sharing channel, with popular charting hits all getting the unique Timeflies treatment. With subscriptions to the channel climbing at a quick rate, the Island/Def Jam label signed them and released their One Night EP in late 2012. The single "I Choose U" followed in 2013. Additional recording in their transplanted studio home of Los Angeles continued during the rest of the year.
In 2014, Timeflies returned with their sophomore album, After Hours. The album debuted at number eight on Billboard's Top 200 chart, buoyed by the singles "All the Way" and "Somebody Gon Get It," featuring T-Pain. The duo's third full-length album, Just for Fun, appeared in the fall of 2015, and included the singles "Worse Things Than Love" (featuring Natalie La Rose) and "Guilty." The "Once in a While" single arrived in 2016, followed in early 2017 by the Too Much EP, which included "Raincoat," a collaborative single featuring Shy Martin. The next year, they issued the single "Little Bit," which appeared on their EP To Dream. "Back When We Were Kids" and "First Time" followed in early 2019. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
