New York's post-post-rock trio the Up On In consists of guitarist Ryan Grayson, upright and electric bassist Charlie Bennett (formerly of Burning Airlines) and ex-Jawbox drummer Zach Barochas. The group formed in early 1998 and began crafting their intellectual yet visceral brand of instrumental rock, which borrowed pop's song structures, hardcore's immediate impact and jazz's complex interplay.
