Landowski studied composition and conducting at the Paris Conservatoire. He later made his living as a music administrator. In his composition, Landowski sought a middle ground between the avant garde and conservatism. Influenced by Honegger and Menotti, his orchestral and choral pieces exhibit his involvement with the metaphysical thought of the East and the neo-Platonists.
