Biography
The Advisory Circle is the bewitching alias of former King of Woolworths and Georges Vent artist Jon Brooks. Describing the Advisory Circle sound as "Everything's fine, but there is something not quite right about it," Brooks' eerie electronics and warped collages of noise and samples found a suitable home on the ubiquitous Ghost Box label. He was able to share his love of pastoral eeriness, '70s kid's TV shows, vintage public relation films, Delia Derbyshire, ancient witchcraft and rituals, as well as the abstract experimentalism of certain library music on his 2005 debut EP, Mind How You Go. Expanding on this release, he released his 2008 debut LP, Other Channels, to critical and cult acclaim. Alongside stablemates such as Belbury Poly, Mount Vernon Arts Lab, and The Focus Group, among others, Brooks contributed to Ghost Box's 2010 Study Series collection which was a limited-edition run of 7"s by Ghost Box alumni. He recorded Study Series 02: Cycles and Seasons along with Hong Kong in the 60s. ~ Aneet Nijjar, Rovi
