Biography
French violinist Laurent Korcia studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. He made appearances on a few classical albums in the late 1990s and early 2000s, but when Naive Records released his album Danses in 2004, it was his first disc on which he was billed alone, without sharing the names of the composers on the cover. On Doubles Jeux (2006) he was joined by Michel Portal on bandoneon. His 2009 album Cinema, released by EMI around the world and by APM in the U.S., found him playing songs and music associated with films. He performed its music in a show at the Folies Bergère in Paris that was filmed for a television special, #Laurent Korica: Cinema, Live at the Folies Bergère, that began airing on PBS in the U.S. in June 2009. ~ William Ruhlmann, Rovi
