Biography
Langlais was educated in composition and keyboard at the Institution des Jeunes Aveugles and later at the Paris Conservatoire. He received many prizes and distinctions for his work in composition and performing. His career included positions as organist at St Pierre de Montrouge and Ste Clotilde, and also as professor of organ, conducting and composition at the Insitution des Jeunes Aveugles. Langlais was a composer of mostly sacred works, many of which are based on Gregorian themes and contain polymodal harmonies. Tournemire, a former organ and composition teacher of Langlais', was an influence on his organ music. ~ Lynn Vought, Rovi
