Cartlidge wrote his first raps at age 13 and threw himself into music the next year, after he moved to the coastal town of Redcar in North Yorkshire, England. Within a few years, he was also producing tracks. Through a deal with Halftime Music, he made his recorded debut in 2017 with the paired songs "Love Spoons" and "Strawberry Blonde's Snip." Scratch, Sniff, a three-song EP, followed in 2018. The same year, BBC Two broadcast the BAFTA-nominated four-part documentary series The Mighty Redcar, the first episode of which featured Cartlidge as one of the de-industrialized town's hard-working natives. Exposed to a whole new audience and supported by a publishing deal with Universal, Cartlidge responded in 2019 with the four-track Monsters Under the Bed EP. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
