A fiercely D.I.Y. Oakland, California-based anarcho-feminist black metal/doom metal/post-rock duo drawing inspiration from "Pacific Northwest forests, early Cat Power, and the total destruction of capitalism," Ragana were formed in Olympia, Washington in 2011 around the talents of multi-instrumentalists Maria and Nicole, both of whom trade off on vocals, guitar, and drums as needed.
