A 16-piece big band led by pianist/arranger Orrin Evans, the Captain Black Big Band makes swinging, forward-thinking jazz. Based in New York City and formed in 2010, the band features a rotating lineup of top names on the N.Y.C. and Philadelphia jazz scenes, including such artists as trumpeters Duane Eubanks and Walter White, saxophonists Joel Frahm, Ralph Bowen, and Jaleel Shaw, trombonist Stafford Hunter, drummer Anwar Marshall, and others.
