Valkyrja
Biography
Swedish black metal group Valkyrja were formed in 2004 and made a quick name for themselves with their bloodthirsty lyrics and brutal speed. Original members Joakim, J. Lindgren, Skall, Xeproth, and S.W. self-released their debut EP, titled Funeral Voices, in 2005 (later re-released by Deathkrush Productions as Far Beyond), before the band underwent a series of lineup changes. Guitarist Joakim was replaced with A. Hed, and Disdained drummer J. Wallgren took the place of Skall. Their first album, The Invocation of Demise, was recorded at Necromorbus Studio in the spring of 2007 and released that September on Northern Silence. More changes ensued, and in July of 2008 M.A. replaced bassist J. Lindgren. Metal Blade Records signed the band later that year, and Valkyrja returned to the studio with Tore Stjerna to record Contamination, which was released in the summer of 2009. ~ Jason Lymangrover, Rovi
