Biography
Orphy Robinson was one of the many young British jazz musicians who was discovered by Americans in the mid-'80s. Inspired originally by Roy Ayers, Robinson played funk, pop, and avant-garde music before joining Courtney Pine's Jazz Warriors. An open-minded player who has worked with Pine's small group, Andy Sheppard, and his own band, Robinson has recorded for Blue Note but not really had a breakthrough in the U.S.; his style is quite eclectic. ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi
