Biography
Born in 1945 in New York City, photographer Bob Gruen has documented the international rock scene for some 40 years now, and several of his photos have become iconic visual symbols of the genre. Gruen has photographed countless rock stars, including Eric Clapton, Jerry Garcia, the Who, Led Zeppelin, Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon, the Clash, and the Rolling Stones, and he was John Lennon's personal photographer during Lennon's stay in New York. Gruen's career summation exhibit, Rockers, opened in New York in 2008. Among his many books of photographs are 1990's -The Sex Pistols -- Chaos, 1997's -The Rolling Stones -- Crossfire Hurricane, 2004's -The Clash, and 2005's -John Lennon -- The New York Years. ~ Steve Leggett, Rovi
