Biography
Morten Remmer and Thomas Knak from James Bong are sound-sample experimentalists akin to Matthew Herbert's Doctor Rockit project, able to marry dubby midtempo grooves to what is often a literally kitchen-sink style of production. The Danish duo began producing in the early '90s as part of a tangled collective comprising such solo and group projects as Future 3, How Do I, Dub Tractor, Opiate and Jet (some of which included Remmer's brother Anders and the keyboard talents of Jesper Skaaning). James Bong signed up to Britain's 2 Kool Recordings and released a few 1995-96 EPs, including "General Weirdness" and "Mr. Kiss Kiss Bong Bong." While Future 3 released its debut album in 1995, JB followed one year later with C'Ést Trés Bong. The duo have also appeared on April Records' compilation series Boredom Is Deep and Mysterious, and remixed countrymen Deepfried Toguma. ~ John Bush, Rovi
