Brasserie Trio
Biography
A small group break-off from the Italian Instabile Orchestra, the Brasserie Trio first performed at the 1992 Moers Festival, and since then has performed in concert at an array of unlikely venues: a casino, a supermarket, and the middle of a forest, among others. The members of the Trio include Alberto Mandarini on trumpet and flugelhorn; Carlo Actis Dato on bass clarinet, and tenor and baritone saxophones; and either Sebi Tramontana or Lauro Rossi on trombone. The group incorporates a variety of styles in its compositions, from Dixieland jazz to Italian folk melodies, spiced by lots of wackiness. A favorite at international festivals, the Trio successfully weds slapstick silliness (Italian style) to free improvisation. ~ Steven Loewy, Rovi
