Bastos also had success writing interpretations that were recorded by Gal Costa (Nada Mais, of Stevie Wonder's Lately), Beto Guedes (Quando Te Vi, best-known from the Beatles' Till There Was You), and Sarah Vaughan (Nothing Will Be As It Was, of his and Milton's Nada Será Como Antes).
It all began in the late '60s, when Bastos became friends with Milton Nascimento in Rio de Janeiro, and this friendship was the genesis of the Clube da Esquina, as the group of composers, who were mainly from the Minas Gerais state, became known. The first song the duo wrote was Três Pontas, followed by Fé Cega, Faca Amolada, Nada Será Como Antes (which was also recorded by Elis Regina), and Cravo e Canela (that was recorded by Caetano Veloso for his Araçá Azul). ~ Alvaro Neder, Rovi
