Chus & Ceballos
Biography
Chus Ceballos are one of house music's most in-demand duos. Both having started their DJing careers early on, the new millennium found them with the enviable status of industry veterans. Chus L. Esteban was born in Madrid in December of 1971. He started spinning at 16 in local clubs, soon earning a reputation throughout Europe. In 1994 Chus landed a show at the famous Teatro Kapital, where he still holds a weekly slot. With appearances in Colombia, Russia, and Israel, Esteban slowly earned international influence and renown. Pablo Ceballos was also born in Madrid, getting his feet wet in the techno world at 15. As Ceballos drifted stylistically toward the house genre, collaboration with the well-established Chus became inevitable. In 2001 Chus, Ceballos, and dance music agent Carlos Calico established the Stereo Productions label. The new label found allies in distribution companies based all over Europe, bringing Chus Ceballos' music to their largest audience to date. The pair focused their efforts on the remixes, and have since appeared on over 20 compilations in Spain and Portugal alone. Through their collaboration, the pair created an alternative sound to the brooding, dark style that dominated the scene. Dubbing this new and alternative voice the Iberican Sound, Chus Ceballos have released several original productions bearing the name, starting with 2003's One Year of Iberican Sound. Thanks to their innovative use of modern technology and relentless touring schedule, Chus Ceballos have become a house music mainstay, topping dance charts throughout Europe. ~ Evan C.
