Biography
Burle Marx studied piano, orchestration and conducting privately with teachers in Brazil and Europe. After a concert tour of Europe as a pianist in 1925-26, he returned to Brazil to found and conduct the Rio de Janeiro PO. He later lived in the USA where he conducted at the 1939 New York World's Fair and taught piano and composition at the Settlement Music School, Philadelphia.
