Biography
Best known as part of the voice and vision of the wonderfully rebellious alt-country act Cross Canadian Ragweed, Cody Canada has a solid place on the Red Dirt/Americana scene, having also worked with Ray Wylie Hubbard, Mike McClure, Stephanie Briggs, and Stoney LaRue, among others. When Cross Canadian Ragweed went on extended hiatus in 2010, breaking up officially a year later, Canada and Ragweed bassist Jeremy Plato joined with guitarist Seth James, keyboardist Steve Littleton, and drummer Dave Bowen to form Cody Canada the Departed in 2011. A debut album from the new configuration, This Is Indian Land, was released by Underground Sound that same summer. Adventus arrived in 2012, followed by HippieLovePunk in 2015, the latter of which was the first Departed album to not feature Seth James on guitar, who left the band (amicably) in 2013. In 2016, the band released a covers LP under the moniker Jeremy Plato the Departed, which featured covers of classic country songs with bassist Plato taking the lead. ~ Steve Leggett, Rovi
